Living Building Conversations

6 April 2016 at 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm

Join the Adelaide Sustainable Building Network for the first Living Building (LB) Conversation of the year. Our LBConversations is a discussion series which brings together a panel of Adelaide professionals in a Q&A type format to break down specific principles and requirements of the Living Building Challenge, a framework for regenerative design within built environments.

LBConversation #7 will be unpacking the Materials Petal of the Living Building Challenge. The intent of the Materials Petal is to help create a materials economy that is non-toxic, ecologically regenerative, transparent and socially equitable. Throughout their life cycle, building materials are responsible for many adverse environmental issues, including personal illness, habitat and species loss, pollution and resource depletion. The requirements the Living Building Challenge lays out aims to remove the worst known offending materials and practices and drive business towards a truly responsible materials economy.

We are looking to unpack the many layers of ‘sustainable materials’ with our esteemed panel and our audience. See you there!

The Panel
– Dr Martin Freney – Lecturer at the University of South Australia Sustainable Design Programme and creator of Earthship Ironbank.

– Helen Edwards – Recycled Interiors

– Ben Grace – Business Development Manager of EC Group.

Our panelists will be happy to answer questions during the event, so bring along some good ones to discuss!

This event is part of the Adelaide City Council ‘Go Green’ Initiative.
