Biophilic Design 101

Biophilic Design is a practice that is increasingly used and requested in built environment projects. But what is it, why should we use it, and what does good biophilic design look like in the Australian context? This one hour webinar will give built environment professionals a good overview, introduction to terminology, and exemplar local case studies to ground the theory into the local context.

Learning Level

This introductory course is appropriate for anyone and most beneficial to those new to the topic. No prerequisite courses or knowledge are required; however, a basic understanding of regenerative design for the built environment may provide additional valuable context.

Learning outcomes

  1. Understand what is meant by Biophilic Design.
  2. Understand the benefits of good Biophilic Design.
  3. Identify and explore Biophilic Design frameworks.
  4. Explore local case studies.

Dr Fiona Gray

Fiona is a Living Future Accredited architect and ecological urban design researcher. Her diverse background spans the public, private, and non-profit domains. At the heart of her endeavours is a strong commitment to creating and championing healthy, sustainable, and equitable built environments, all geared towards supporting the well-being of all living things.
