The National Biophilic Design Awards showcase outstanding achievements in Australian biophilic design.

In this 1.5-hour lunchtime webinar, you will get a fascinating insight into Huff’n’Puff Haus and the Sustainable Buildings Research Centre, joint winning projects of the Building Scale Category of the 2024 Awards, along with Taronga Institute of Science and Learning, winning project of the 2023 Awards.

There will be a presentation from each of the speakers, followed by an opportunity for Q&A.

SPEAKERS

Talina Edwards, Director Envirotecture, architects for Huff’n’Puff Haus, 2024 Joint Winner

Talina Edwards is a Director of Envirotecture, and is passionate about creating healthy, beautiful, functional, comfortable and sustainable architecture which combines building-science and biophilic-design. Talina feels a deep connection to country, and she creates nature-aligned architecture for a more regenerative future by integrating her expertise with Passivhaus and Living Building Challenge. With over 25 years’ experience, Talina has received many awards for sustainable architecture advocacy and leadership.

Joe Agius, Director COX Architecture, architects for the Sustainable Buildings Research Centre, 2024 Joint Winner

Joe Agius sets and guides design direction for many projects in the Sydney studio as Design Director at COX Architecture. He has experience across sectors, including public and cultural, education, research, health, as well as urban design and master planning. Achieving strong public domain and civic outcomes are central to his design and philosophical approach – ‘any building must give more than it takes’. He has led the design of many award-winning buildings locally, nationally, and internationally, including the Sustainable Buildings Research Centre being one of his most cherished projects.

Andrew Duffin, Director of Design NBRS, Architecture, Interior and Landscape for Taronga Institute of Science & Learning, 2023 Winner 

Andrew Duffin FRAIA is the Director of Design at NBRS, a multi-discipline architecture and design studio based in Sydney and Melbourne. Andrew is an award-winning architect committed to achieving excellence, believing that good design can positively transform lives. Andrew’s projects draw from the contextual cultural heritage of place and harness the environmental conditions for unique responses. For over 35 years Andrew has sought to meld together art and science to create inspiring people-focused projects.
